Sennheiser Communications help businesses stay safe and sound at this year’s
Acoustic Safety Programme Conference
11/17/2006 Sennheiser UK
Visitors to the Acoustic Safety Programme Conference 2006 (28th November) can rest assured they won’t go home with any ringing in their ears this year, thanks to the new hearing protection solutions from Sennheiser Communications.

A global leader in audio technology, Sennheiser Communications will be showcasing the solutions available to meet the new requirements for hearing safety in the workplace for both sustained noise and acoustic bursts.

The ASP Conference will highlight the responsibilities of businesses to adopt the EU Noise at Work directive, which came into effect in the UK on 6th April 2006, laying down strict new guidelines for protecting hearing at work.

Demonstrations taking place at the Sennheiser Communications’ stand will be illustrating the ActiveGardä hearing protection technology which all Sennheiser Communications headsets are equipped with. Sennheiser representatives will use an ActiveGardä test box to demonstrate the difference in acoustic burst sound protection between a Sennheiser headset and a standard headset.

Also demonstrating the UI 740 EU, a small desk top device which has been designed to protect the UK’s call centre and office staff from sound induced hearing damage. It provides an advanced solution to high levels of sustained noise, bringing any telecom headsets from Sennheiser Communications into full compliance with the Noise At Work Directive. The UI 740 EU ensures that call centre and office staff are not exposed to sound levels over and above these new guidelines.

Richard Peak of Sennheiser Communications comments: "It is documented that noise levels above 85 dB can damage hearing over time. 85 dB is the same level as heavy background traffic; even the electronic whirring noise caused by dialling a fax number could expose staff to noise above this level. At Sennheiser we have over 60 years experience in sound technology and are delighted to be involved with the ASP who are instrumental in driving forward important work to protect the working public."
