Sennheiser UK finally appoints new director of sales
03.12.2001 London
Following the restructuring of its top management team earlier this year, Sennheiser UK has now completed the initial phase of that process with the appointment of Alan Johnson to the position of Director of Sales.

Johnson, age 35, joins the company from Sony Broadcast and Professional UK, and brings considerable management experience of sales and marketing in professional audio to the post. A career start with five years in retail management, running the Sutekina hi-tech music store in London’s Denmark Street , was followed by a move into distribution with Sound Technology as Alesis ADAT specialist in 1995, before being recruited by Yamaha-Kemble to head up its professional audio sales and marketing operation.

During a four year stay at Yamaha Johnson was responsible for establishing the Commercial Audio division, in a restructuring of the company’s non-MI audio business. During that time he oversaw the market leading success of products like the 02R, 03D and 01V digital mixers as well as the launch of the flagship PM1D live digital console. His appointment to Sony Professional Audio Sales and Marketing Manager saw his continued involvement with commercially successful digital mixing desks, with the Sony DMX-R100. He also sat on the company’s European Business team, participating in strategic planning initiatives.

At Sennheiser Johnson has assumed responsibility for planning and directing all aspects within the Sales Department, coordinating product and brand strategies both internally and within the international aims of the Sennheiser Group. Commenting on the new position, Johnson stated; "My role is principally strategic, giving direction to the sales team and coordinating their activities within the wider company and group objectives for Sennheiser and distributed brands across the MI, professional audio and hi-fi market sectors."

Meanwhile Nigel Mann, formerly Field Sales Manager for the Pro Division, has been appointed to the position of National Sales Manager, with responsibility for all day to day operational activities of the external sales team.

Sennheiser UK Managing Director, Paul Whiting, commented on the significance of these further changes, "We have taken some considerable time in making an appointment to the Director of Sales position, it’s a crucial role and we wanted to be sure that we found the right man. It was very important that we found someone capable of bringing something new to the company, in terms of strategic planning and development. With Alan on board I think we now have a very comprehensive and cohesive structure in place that will enable us to achieve our plans for 2002 and beyond."
