D.A.S. Audio has introduced their new medium format line array system for high-level sound reinforcement applications. The Aero 38 has been designed for use in applications requiring high sound pressure levels and precise control of the vertical coverage such as large-scale outdoor/indoor events in arenas, stadiums or theaters. The system is available in a powered version denominated Aero 38A which incorporates a three channel, Class "D" amplifier using a switch mode power supply. The amplifier provides 1000 W of power for the low frequency section, 500 W for the mid and 500 W for the high frequency
The three-way Aero 38 systems integrate two 12" low frequency units with 4" voice coils, two 10" mid-range devices which utilize 3" voice coils and one compression drivers with 4" coil and 1.5" exit geometry. The compression driver is coupled to the Serpis high frequency plane wave adaptor insuring coherent high frequency summing and the generation of a flat, isophasic wave front. All components incorporate neodymium magnet assemblies. The Aero 38 enclosure, manufactured from Wisa ® birch plywood, and is finished with a Isoflex coating, protecting the cabinet. The enclosure measures 31.6 x 140 x 60 cm (12.4 x 55 x 23.6 in) and weighs 70 Kg (154 lbs). The Aero 38's built-in rigging hardware permits safe and simple flying. A front dolly panel makes moving easy.
The Aero 38 can be used as a stand-alone, full-range system thanks to its wide frequency response ranging from 60 Hz to 18 kHz. When increased bandwidth in the low frequency range is required, the system can be used in conjunction subwoofer units such as the Aero 218Sub for ground stacked applications or the Aero 182 when subwoofer systems are to be flown. These systems are capable of producing high sound pressure levels in the low frequency range from 28 Hz to 83 Hz. Both models are available in powered versions, which incorporate a 1000 W Class "D" power amplifier.
