| Sennheiser at prolight & sound 2002 |
There’s something new in the successful Sennheiser series ”evolution” and ”evolution wireless.” With the electrostatic model e 664, the microphone specialist Sennheiser has added an overhead mike to its wired microphones of the evolution series. Low self-noise and an outstanding directional effect across the entire transmission range (40–20,000 Hz ± 2.5 dB) make this the cardioid microphone of choice for pick-up of drums and acoustic instruments, especially guitars.
Indispensable on tour and at top live concerts: the new evolution wireless twin receiver EM 550 has been custom-tailored to the requirements of PA rental companies and professional tour musicians. In its sturdy 19” housing, the EM 550 combines two true-diversity receivers with an integrated switched-mode power supply and an antenna splitter. With the active splitter it is possible to cascade multiple receivers quickly and simply without any additional equipment. The EM 550 is available in combination with two transmitters of the evolution wireless 500 series, which, thanks to its audio quality and sturdiness, already enjoys great popularity.
A particular highlight is the limited "evolution wireless Blue Edition". The displays on the receiver and in-ear transmitter as well as the diodes on the hand-held transmitter and in-ear receiver do not shine green or red, but a trendy blue. The series is limited to 1,000 units, of which 800 are microphone systems and 200 in-ear systems.
With a new version of its classic microphone MKE 2 Sennheiser presents a clip-on microphone optimized especially for the stage and musical area. Particular care has been used in the design of the frequency response. The highs have been ”defused”, which makes the microphone sound warmer and more natural. Also new is the 1 mm ultra-thin cable with anti-kink sleeve; almost invisible, but still extremely sturdy. In addition, Sennheiser’s revolutionary tandem membrane has been improved further. This patented Sennheiser membrane technology protects the microphone capsule very effectively against intrusion of moisture – making this inconspicuous clip-on microphone the ideal partner for stage shows where artists really work up a sweat.
Another highlight for stage and broadcasting: the bodypack transmitter SK 5012 , the world’s smallest professional transmitter, will be at prolight & sound. All the features of this Sennheiser pocket transmitter have been combined in a small 61 x 53 x 17 mm housing: ”HiDyn plus” noise suppression, stable 30 mW HF power output, PC interface for programming, protected controls, and much more.
As one of the world’s leading manufacturers of microphones, headphones, and wireless transmission systems, the Sennheiser Group, with headquarters in Wedemark, had sales of more than €220 million in 2001. The export share was about 80 per cent. Altogether Sennheiser has about 1400 employees, 800 of them in Germany. Sennheiser operates worldwide, with its own subsidiaries in France, the UK, Belgium, the Netherlands, China, Singapore, Canada, Mexico, and the USA.
