Sennheiser debuts two new, more economical models in its best-of-breed cordless headphone line; light weight, advanced features.
10.01.2004 Old Lyme, CT
Wonderful audio quality and solid performance over a good range hallmark all Sennheiser cordless headphones even as new RS 110 and RS 120 models lower the user's cost of entry.

Sennheiser electronic (Wedemark, Germany) and Sennheiser USA (Old Lyme, CT) are debuting two new lower-price cordless headphone models at the Consumer Electronics Show (Las Vegas, NV). These new Sennheiser RS 110 and RS 120 wireless open dynamic stereo headphones have a new look and new technology and are slated to appear in stores during January.

A heavenly entry into Sennheiser's world of wireless hi-fi: The RS 110 combines elegant design with high user-friendliness. The comfortable headphones are powered by two included AAA batteries.

Mobile entertainment for the home: the RS 120 has everything for wireless music or TV enjoyment. The elegant transmitter can be wall-mounted and doubles as a charging unit for the headphones.

Both of these stylish new radio-frequency cordless headphone models exhibit a surprisingly light weight (230 grams) and superb sound quality (22–19,500Hz response with total harmonic distortion held to 0.7%) that are unexpected in lower-price models. The biggest difference between the two models is in their power strategies. The RS 110 comes with two standard alkaline AAA cells. The RS 120 includes rechargeable cells and initiates charging whenever the headphones are returned to the transmitter's "hook".

The handsome transmitter unit is small enough to place atop or aside most home stereo audio sources, or can accommodate wall mounting. Both models offer the flexibility of three channels of transmission, allowing the user to have multiple systems running in the same environment. Sennheiser also provides a volume adjustment on each headphone.

Sennheiser Group — one of the world's leading manufacturers of microphones, headphones and wireless transmission systems, with headquarters in Wedemark near Hanover, Germany — had total sales of over €229 million in 2002 and an export share close to 80%. The total Sennheiser workforce numbers approximately 1,500, of whom 800 are employed in Germany. Sennheiser is active worldwide and, in addition to other partnerships, has its own sales subsidiaries in France, the UK, Belgium, the Netherlands, China, Singapore, Canada, Mexico and the USA.
