Above a certain register, the chest voice "switches" to what is initially a finer, thinner head voice, and that is quite normal.

Do not try to make your voice louder by "pressing" the sound out. What is important is that you become aware of precisely where you can feel your voice in your head. Intensify the head resonances "outwards" in all directions and allow them to spread throughout your whole head. Even for "hard rockers", it is worth training the head voice, since it not only allows cool Blues sounds but is also the starting point for screaming and extreme shouting.
