I want to connect my MD 421 to a mixer/amplifier. Could you give me the mic's pin assignment?
MD 421-U (with XLR connector) : Pin 1 : screen, ground Pin 2 : positive signal phase Pin 3 : negative signal phase
MD 421-2 : Pin 1 : positive signal phase Pin 2 : negative signal phase Pin 3 : screen, ground
MD 421-N (N connector) : Pin 1 : positive signal phase Pin 2 : screen, ground Pin 3 : negative signal phase
Please make sure that the amplifier is fitted with a balanced input, as the MD 421 delivers a balanced signal.
I want to record some reports and interviews. Can I connect my MD 441 to a portable MD recorder?
Unfortunately, a dynamic microphone is not suitable for this purpose, because its sensitivity is too low. The recording would be too quiet. In addition, most MD recorders generate a microphone supply voltage ? as a dynamic microphone does not require any supply power, this voltage would need to be decoupled. Also, most MD recorders have unbalanced inputs, therefore, another 6 dB of level would be lost. Please use a condenser microphone instead, for example the Sennheiser K6 with an ME 64 microphone head.
