Neumann shows new digital shotgun microphone at IBC 2009

Rapid advancements in the production of high-definition television (HDTV) mean that increasing demands are being placed on its associated audio technology. The use of digital microphones helps to address this, with Neumann leading the way by expanding its line-up of digital microphones for electronic newsgathering (ENG) and broadcast applications.

Amongst the new developments on show from the Neumann digital miniature microphone series will be the KMR 81 D digital shotgun microphone and a capsule head with a figure-eight directional characteristic (KK 120).

The combination of these two innovative products allows digital MS stereo recordings to be made with an integrated digital workflow. A new range of accessories that can be adapted to a wide range of uses, from field recordings to installed sound applications, is also available.
Neumann is currently working on a portable version of the digital microphone interface DMI-2, which is due for release in 2010.

Neumann is exhibiting at IBC in association with Sennheiser, and can be found on Stand C51, Hall 8.
