Norman Cook Embraces Serato Scratch LIVE
After years of resisting the onset on digital DJ technology Norman Cook, AKA Fatboy Slim, has seen the light and embraced Serato Scratch LIVE as part of his DJ equipment for his high energy performances.
After witnessing a fellow DJ using Scratch LIVE earlier this year, it only took one demonstration at his Brighton home for Cook to see how simple it would be to incorporate the technology into his live set. The great man explained with a written letter of thanks to Serato.
“I have been a professional disc jockey for nearly thirty years now,” wrote Cook. “Mostly with the emphasis on ‘disc’ not ‘jockey’. Over the past few years it has come to my attention that the discs have become more compact or even hidden inside computers, which doesn’t agree with my years of turntabling skills.
“Finding Scratch LIVE means I can tap into the 21st Century of digital music whilst still using my knowledge of Technics 1210s and how they behave. Perfect! I can now continue being Fatboy Slim and waving my arms around in the air without being bothered with pesky CDJs!
“I’ve seen the future and with the new visual hook up it is indeed that. Thank you, Rane. All hail Scratch LIVE!”
Rane and Serato products are distributed in Great Britain by Sennheiser UK.
