K-Array Warms Up Coventry at Official Launch Event
The cold weather failed to cool the atmosphere at the RICOH Arena in
Coventry on December 3 and 4th, as audio professionals from across the UK gathered to see and hear K-Array products at first hand at Sennheiser UK's official launch event for their new distribution partners.
At PLASA 2008 Sennheiser UK unofficially introduced K-Array to a select group of individuals. Though these demonstrations were by invitation only, word spread quickly and K-Array became one of PLASA's hottest talking points. The official launch event was even more impressive, as
representatives from installers and hire companies, along with consultants and audio engineers, were able to hear the entire K-Array range in large spaces at professional application volumes.
After a presentation by Sennheiser UK's Sales and Marketing Director Peter May, K-Array Product Manager Francesco Maffei, Export Manager Leonardo Dani and CEO Alex Tatini gave detailed explanations of the Kobra Systems including the miniature KT20 2-inch point source compact speaker, the KV50, an ultra-slim, ultra-flat three-dimensional array loudspeaker with multiple 1-inch full range drivers and the KK50, an ultra-slim line array only 50cm long. All Kobra systems were demonstrated with the KKS50, an ultra-slim, 50cm, line array bass speaker.
Visitors had the opportunity to ask questions and hear the products in
various configurations, before being led into a second room for
demonstrations of the Red Line range. An aerobics workout and a cookery demonstration were heard through ultra-light two-way 2000Watt KR100S systems, while a live performance by acoustic guitarist and singer James Henton and a short but dexterous set from Mix Champion DJ E Double D filled the room with sound courtesy of two ultra-light two-way 4000Watt KR200S systems.
Moments later, visitors were ushered into an even larger room to witness a live performance by electric string quartet Blaze through KH4 self-powered ultra-compact line array loudspeakers, matched with KS4 self-powered 8-figure flat subwoofers.
"The K-Array launch went incredibly well," explained Sennheiser UK's General Manager Phil Massey. "We were able to demonstrate the full range of K-Array products to a wide range of audio professionals and from speaking to many of them over the course of the two days, those products created a very positive first impression. Unless you experience K-Array products at first hand it's hard to believe that speakers this compact can produce audio this clear and powerful. That's why it was imperative that we demonstrated them to as many potential users as possible. I'd like to thank the many people that did brave the cold to come to Coventry. I'm sure they agree that it was an extremely worthwhile journey."
