Sennheiser Launches International Sound Logo Competition:
Sennheiser is looking for a sound logo a short audio signature that will be instantly recognisable as the sound of Sennheiser, makers of many of the finest microphones, in-ear monitoring systems and headphones in the world.
And because we believe good ideas form the basis of every innovation, we've decided to hold an international contest, open to everyone, to find the sound logo that's perfect for us.
Musicians, composers, sound designers and creative minds are invited to take part between now and July 17, 2008. The very best ideas will be rewarded with some terrific prizes, including 5,000 Euros for the overall winner, who will be announced at the beginning of September.
What is a sound logo?
A sound logo is an audio trademark. It could be a mini-melody, a compact sequence of notes, a chord, or a mix of noises and notes. All that's important is that it sounds good and instantly sticks in listeners' minds. Unmistakeable and innovative, the sound logo should embody the same qualities as Sennheiser products.
How do I enter?
From now until July 17, 2008 proposals for sound logos can be uploaded directly onto www.se-soundlogo.com. Each entrant can upload a maximum of five tracks in MP3 format (stereo, 128, 192or 256kb/s, max 10MB). There is no optimum length for a sound logo, but audio tracks definitely shouldn't be any longer than eight seconds.
How will the entries be judged?
In August 2008 thirty finalists will be chosen from all the submissions. At the end of August, these thirty tracks will be placed before the public in an online vote and an international jury for voting. Four specially selected jurors, including Professor Jorg Sennheiser and Jon Thornton from Liverpool Institute for the Performing Arts, plus a fifth voice made up of the public vote, will determine the winner, which will be announced at the beginning of September.
The winner will receive a prize of 5,000 Euros plus any applicable value added tax, plus an optional 30,000 Euros, should Sennheiser choose to acquire the unlimited global user rights to the sound logo.
Nine additional runners-up will be able to choose their prize between a pair of high-end Sennheiser HD 650 headphones and a G2 evolution wireless Set 300.
