Sennheiser

Production & Manufacturing Technology

Electro-acoustic products at marketable prices demand economical manufacturing methods. To meet this requirement Sennheiser depends on highly developed logistics and on the intelligent networking of all those involved. Continuous optimization of the workflows and investment in state-of-the-art production technologies also make their contribution. The declared goal of Sennheiser is to further develop its competence in the production of electro-acoustic products and thus to ensure a long-term technological edge and continued outstanding quality.

Production locations
Sennheiser produces worldwide in order to meet the particular requirements of the respective markets. Market requirements regarding costs and delivery flexibility are determined and serve as a measuring stick in the design of the process chains. Modern methods of teamwork ensure productivity and increase the motivation of employees. Consistent utilization of state-of-the-art production technologies and lean logistics processes provide further optimization.

The home plant at Wennebostel produces wired Sennheiser microphones, Neumann microphones, headsets, and microphone and headphone capsules. In February 2000 a state-of-the-art technology production center was opened, which offers outstanding manufacturing conditions for microphone production. The new Class 100 clean room, the 350-square-meter heart of the production center, provides optimum conditions for production of condenser microphone capsules for Sennheiser and Neumann microphones.

Burgdorf production plant

A large proportion of RF production is located at the second German production plant in Burgdorf. This is where printed circuit boards and electronic equipment are assembled. A new production line with state-of-the-art testing and assembly stations was set up in Burgdorf especially for the successful evolution™ wireless series.

The production of Sennheiser headphones is concentrated in Tullamore, Ireland. In addition to the classical wired headphones, Ireland also produces infrared stethoset headphones for consumer electronics and audiology, and assembles RF wireless headphones.

In April 2000 operations began at the new facility in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in the USA. Since May 2000 this plant has been producing the evolution™ wireless series in a three-shift operation. Additional production focuses include printed circuit boards for electronic assemblies and wireless headphones for the US market.

Procurement markets
To ensure production, Sennheiser is expanding its international procurement markets and is strengthening its purchasing team. The company is working to maintain continuous, stable business relationships with its suppliers. This strategy of partnership has proven its worth, especially in difficult situations.

Innovative forms of working
The successful expansion of group work in nearly all production areas results in above-average employee motivation. The constant optimization of production is accompanied and supported by continuous training measures in all corporate areas.
