Sennheiser presents Europe’s biggest newcomer competition
The final of Europe’s largest rock and pop newcomer competition, Emergenza, takes place for the second time during the Taubertal Open-Air-Festival in Rothenburg ob der Tauber. This year is Sennheiser’s debut as sponsor. The Emergenza Winner 2001 will be chosen from 20 bands between August 10 – 12. These 20 are themselves the winners of the Emergenza preliminary rounds – also sponsored by Sennheiser – organized in recent weeks and months throughout Europe and involving more than 1000 bands.
The following bands will be playing in Taubertal:
TIGER FERNANDEZ, Luxembourg MORRIS, Copenhagen ATHENAÏS, Montpellier SORE!, Hamburg INTRODUSCO, Milan MINDJUICE, Munich ZERO TRE, Florence VARIETY, Stuttgart PRIMATE POOKIE, Hanover FREE FALL, Rome DREW, Rome BIG TINGSAGWAN, Paris THAIBNAKKEL, Frankfurt 330 MLE, Vienna SINCERE, Brussels DEADLINE, Berlin FROZEN PEAS, Zurich
They will be joined by three bands still to be named from Cologne, London and Stockholm.
The final decision on the Emergenza Winner 2001 will be made by a jury. The winning band will receive a Sennheiser sponsored full set of wireless stage equipment from the Sennheiser evolution wireless series and a two week tour of the USA organized by Emergenza.
Also present at the open-air festival will be 20 top attractions from Germany and abroad. The line-up includes Apocalyptica, Ash, H-Blockx, Project Pitchfork, Sub7even, Subway to Sally, Travis, Die Donots, Glow, Madonna Hip Hop Massaker, Waikiki Beach Bombers, Slut, Josh Joplin Group, SPN-X and the Schröders.
The open-air festival offers an interesting and attractive mix of 20 established and 20 newcomer bands. The Emergenza newcomer bands will alternate with the headline bands on a second open-air stage.
The festival doors open on Friday, August 10, 2001 at 14.00. The organizers anticipate a crowd of 24,000. In the past the festival has always been a sell out, so good advice is to buy your tickets early. Although there will be tickets available at the gate, experience suggests these will go very quickly.
A three-day ticket costs DM 99.90 including camp-site fee. Reservations can be made via the Internet at www.taubertal-openair.de or by telephone on +49 (0)9861 - 933357. Children under 11 get in free, children from 11 to 14 at half price. Single-day tickets are also available.
