More Convenience at Conferences
08.09.2006 Wedemark

Whether a conference is successful or not depends above all on understanding - both in a literal and a figurative sense. Audio technology plays a key role in this, and to ensure its best possible performance at all times, Sennheiser is launching a new conference and interpretation system, the SDC 8200 series.

From July 1, 2006, only those products that comply with the RoHS Directive may be put on the market in the EU. This means that all electronic products must now be free from lead and certain other hazardous substances. While this has led to wide-ranging changes to components and manufacturing processes - in particular to soldering processes - in the electronics sector, audio specialist Sennheiser has taken advantage of this opportunity and has developed a conference system that offers extended functions and greater convenience for the user. The result is the digital system SDC 8200, which replaces the previous SDC 8000 series. "Existing 8000 systems can, of course, be extended using conference terminals from the new series," explains Martin Gurtner, Product Manager for Conference and Information Systems at Sennheiser.

Benefiting from new functions

The new series is packed with useful features. All terminals are now fitted with a voting function, and the camera and media control interfaces to the central unit are now factory equipped for use without a license. A rotary switch at the terminal regulates the volume digitally. There is also more comfort and convenience for the interpreter: in addition to the built-in gooseneck microphone, the interpreter units now have a 3.5 mm microphone jack for connecting a headset, for example from the PC series from Sennheiser Communications. "Our customers can now benefit from a much wider range of functions " while the price of the terminals is even slightly lower than before," says Gurtner proudly.

Congress or Meeting?

The new system is also the ideal partner for small and medium-sized conferences. "In addition to the "large" central unit, our range now includes the SDC 8200 CU-M central unit for controlling smaller systems." This central unit can administer up to 50 terminals. What is more, it also allows simultaneous interpreting in four languages with two interpreter units per booth. Voting can be controlled directly by the SDC 8200 CV chairman's unit.
