Get in the Lead: evolution e 840 / e 840 S
31.03.2004 Wedemark

At prolight + sound in Frankfurt, Germany, audio specialist Sennheiser has launched its dynamic lead vocalist microphone evolution e 840.  Designed for tough stage use, the youngest member of the wired evolution family features a new sound and excellent presence even with extremely loud stage levels.

The sound of the evolution e 840 vocal microphone - also available as e 840 S with noiseless on/off switch - follows the sound design of the evolution e 900 Series, which has been extremely successful in the live sector since its launch one year ago.  Accepting extremely high sound pressure levels, the e 840 ensures a high signal output to make it cut through high on-stage sound levels with ease.  The cardioid pick-up pattern provides good isolation from incidental rear-stage noise and excellent feedback rejection.

Due to a minimum proximity effect, the e 840 has a consistently clear bass end with different microphone distances, while a gentle presence boost refines the tonal tuning and produces a clear, powerful sound.  The frequency independent polar pattern maintains signal quality when moving on and off axis during performance.  A hum compensating coil avoids electromagnetic interference; handling noise is efficiently suppressed by the shock-mount capsule design.  A high-performance microphone, the e 840 / e 840 S will be an ideal choice for both professional and amateur vocalists. It offers excellent value for money and comes with pouch and mic clip.
