Sennheisers Five Series Flagship dynamic headphone

The 590 is intended for high-end hi-fi use, with neutrality, clarity and
long term listening comfort as design aims. It is not a DJ or dance
headphone and is specifically engineered as an open-back phone.
Sennheiser make a range of specialised closed phones for isolation
necessary and ultra-loud applications.

Designed for High-End audio customers and studio quality monitoring, the HD-590 is a no-compromise, low resonance design, featuring strengthened capsules, stainless steel grilles, and advanced drive unit technology.
The result is one of the best sounding dynamic headphones made - and as Sennheiser never forget comfort, the 590s are great for long term listening.

The sound
Sennheiser's open-back design allows listeners to perceive their natural acoustic environment. This coupled with the low colouration drivers, makes for a spacious 'out of the head' sound. The 590 is voiced for a neutral balance with deep bass, smooth extended highs and a clear articulate midband.

• A new transducer orientation (patent pending) ensures a better
• localisation of sounds and a superbly natural sound reproduction.
• A sintered damping element controls diaphragm oscillations to enhance clarity.

Technical background.

• Duofol transducer welds two Mylar films to make one rigid diaphragm. This is light and self damping, reducing resonances in the diaphragm itself and reducing flexing when driven hard
• Lightweight 18mm Aluminium voice coils give superb transient response & linearity
• Neodym-Iron magnets in a computer optimised design, help deliver deep, low distortion bass.
• One-sided low noise OFC headphone lead. 99.99% Oxygen Free Copper FC for clarity, woven Kevlar carbon-fibre strands for strength. (it looks thin, but is very tough)

NOTE
Sennheiser Exclusive: this OFC lead is connected to the headphone by a 2.5mm micro-jack, unplugs for service or replacement and is designed so that if you snag or trip over the lead it will unplug before the lead gets damaged.

SOFA TEST
Put a pair of headphones on a sofa and sit on them - many will break. Sennheisers are made of almost unbreakable flexible plastics and just bend.
