Born in Madison, John Jorgenson studied classical music. After his graduation he travelled across America and Europe playing many different types of venue. Finally Jorgenson got a job in a Dixieland band in Disneyland where he spent several years refining his guitar talent.
 
In 1985 he met Chris Hillman and formed the Desert Rose Band. Playing mostly acoustic music they earned 5 number 1 singles, 2 Grammy nominations, 3 ACM awards, Jorgenson was voted guitarist of the year three times.
 
By 1990 Jorgenson started Hellecasters with Will Ray and Jerry Donahue, their CD "Return of the Hellecasters" was voted Best Overall Guitar Album and Best Country Albumin 1993.
 
After spending 6 years playing everything from the Mandolin to the Sax with Elton John in 1999 he finally released his first solo effort "Emotional Savant". His mix of British Rock Californian harmonies with Celtic and Gypsy-Jazz guitars was an instant success.
